About us

The Amsterdam International Community School (AICS) is a Dutch International Primary and Secondary School offering international education in English to 2400 students of more than 80 different nationalities who are (temporarily) living in the Netherlands and are enjoying high quality, accessible, community based international learning.

The AICS is a partly-state-funded community school, which enables us to deliver high-quality education at competitive fees. We were the first school in the Netherlands to offer the full IB continuum (IB, PYP, MYP, DP and CP) and are a fully accredited member of the Council of International Schools (CIS).

  • Relevant qualification in education, youth work, pedagogy, psychology, special educational needs, or a related field.
  • Experienced in designing and delivering targeted learning interventions to support organisation, executive functioning, self-regulation, study skills, and academic engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, wellbeing staff and families to identify and implement effective student support strategies that promote learning, independence and successful participation in school life
  • Skilled in supporting adolescents with a range of learning, social-emotional and wellbeing needs to engage successfully in learning and school life
  • An understanding and knowledge of various cultural backgrounds
  • Excellent command of the English language and communication skills, proficiency in the Dutch language is desirable
  • A resilient attitude and a good sense of humor
  • A commitment to the school’s mission to provide high-quality community-based international learning in the form of the IB programme

About the position

The Student Support and Learning Coach supports secondary students who require additional guidance to engage successfully in their learning and in the IB programme. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the role provides targeted learning interventions to strengthen organisation, executive functioning, self-regulation, study skills and academic engagement. Through individual and small-group coaching, the role supports students to develop their confidence and independence in their learning.

  • Salary in payscale 6, based upon knowledge and experience (min. €2704 -max. €3653 full-time per month, before tax).

We offer a temporary contract for 0,6fte with the prospect of a permanent position after one year based on proven suitability.
