VACANCY IB ENGLISH and/or TOK TEACHER (0.6 - 1 fte)

Start date: January 1st.

A unique opportunity to work at a pioneering Dutch school in Amsterdam with a varied and international curriculum. 

De Nieuwe Internationale School Esprit (DENISE) is a school for 900 students from age 4-18 years and 100 enthusiastic teachers and support staff. DENISE is a member of the  Language Friendly School network and accredited as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. 

DENISE provides education, tailored to meet the needs of local and international students, some of whom must first learn Dutch and English, often as a second and third (or more) language. DENISE strives to optimise available resources and help learners learn using proven pedagogical and didactic principles. 

DENISE offers bilingual Dutch-English IPC and IMYC programmes in the primary and lower secondary schools. In the upper secondary years, students have the opportunity to achieve either a Dutch language MAVO or HAVO diploma, or an English language IB Diploma for entry to university, equivalent to the VWO diploma.

The English Team works hard to support each other. Collaboration skills, open-mindedness and a willingness to learn are essential. Successful candidates will most likely fulfil the following requirements: 

  • Has a clear vision on English teaching and learning;

  • Designs, develops and implements quality lesson plans;

  • Has experience working with an international and/or Dutch English curriculum;

  • Understands Dutch language, or is willing to learn;

  • Has experience as a form teacher or class mentor;

  • Bachelor (or Master) of Education, English teacher qualification.
